Scrambling in quantum spin chains
Brian Swingle, Assistant Professor, University of Maryland,

Abstract: This talk is about quantum information scrambling, especially in the context of quantum spin chains. There is intense recent interest in understanding scrambling in "generic" chaotic quantum systems, but at present there is a complicated zoo of different behaviors and few unifying themes. Part of the problem is a lack of results for models that are not in a semi-classical or large N limit. I'll describe a method that lets us reliably study scrambling in quantum spin chains with hundreds of spins and present a new framework for thinking about scrambling physics in local quantum systems.
