Summer Exploration Camps - Grade 1-7
Child Educational Center's Summer Exploration Camps are now enrolling!
The Child Educational Center (CEC) is offering elementary-aged children the opportunity to explore their interests, be creatively inspired, swim with friends, learn about nature and astronomy, and more at the CEC's Summer Exploration Camps. Whether choosing the ten-week Exploration Day Camp series, Descanso Discoveries specialty camp, or one of the After-Summer School Camps, children will have a stimulating, adventure-filled experience as they play, discover, and explore at various locations in La Cañada or Pasadena.
The CEC's ten-week Exploration Day Camp offers weekly themed activities, arts and crafts, science, and sports for children entering grades one through six. Each week includes at least one field trip and a visit by a special guest, including astronomers, artists, chefs, and more. Children have the opportunity to swim at the Caltech pool, spend time playing and exploring with friends outdoors, and participate in creative and stimulating indoor activities and clubs. This camp operates from Monday, June 5 through Wednesday, August 9, 7:00 am – 6:00 pm daily at the CEC's La Cañada site with select weeks in Pasadena (near Caltech).
The CEC partners with Descanso Gardens in Descanso Discoveries, a specialty camp featuring discovery and nature-focused activities held in Descanso Gardens' beautiful outdoor environment. Children will tend to their own garden plot, prepare healthy snacks in the outdoor kitchen, and investigate the wonders of our
natural world through art and science-based activities. Additional before- and after-Descanso activities will be held at Paradise Canyon Elementary School in La Cañada. Descanso Discoveries operates for two weeks: Monday, June 19 to Friday, June 23, and Monday, June 26 to Friday, June 30. Hours: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, with Descanso from 9:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Children attending summer school in Pasadena or La Cañada have the opportunity to have a fun, adventurous camp experience too with the CEC's After-Summer School Camps. In partnership with both the Assistance League of Flintridge Summer School (ALF) and the Pasadena Educational Foundation Summer School (PEF), these Camps complement each program and offer children the opportunity to swim at the Caltech pool, enjoy weekly themes and specialized clubs, indoor and outdoor play, arts and crafts, sports, and science activities. Children must be enrolled in ALF or PEF to attend. Before- and after-summer school camp for ALF operates Monday, June 19 through Friday, July 21, 7:00 – 8:00 am and 12:15 – 6:00 pm daily at Paradise Canyon Elementary in La Cañada. After-summer school camp for PEF operates Monday, June 12 through Friday, July 14, 12:15 – 6:00 pm daily at the CEC's Pasadena/Caltech site.
The CEC also accommodates various school start dates by offering Extended Summer Fun, an extension of the Exploration Day Camp at La Cañada's Oak Grove site. This camp operates Monday, August 14 through Friday, September 1, 7:00 am – 6:00 pm daily and offers care for incoming Kindergarteners through sixth grade.
Children who enroll by Friday, March 31 will receive an Early Bird Discount of 10% off their total camp tuition.
