Potential Asphalt Odor Near Resnick Construction Site

In the next phase of construction for the Resnick Sustainability Center, hot rubberized asphalt will be used to waterproof underground walls of the building. Community members may notice an increased odor around the site between April 24–May 19* (dependent on weather). To prevent odors in surrounding buildings, Facilities will be replacing the outside air intakes with brand new charcoal filters in Broad, Beckman Institute, Noyes, BBB, and Braun Lab. The contractors applying the asphalt are taking all necessary measures to prevent strong smells and uphold environmental safety standards.
