Open Call for Actors

October 05, 2020

On Tuesday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m., the Caltech Playreaders present an evening party of monologues and invite everyone to join us to be entertained and entranced. You need not be in a monologue to attend and cheer on our intrepid players.  However, as this production is not precast, we are hereby calling on all who desire to tread the virtual boards to contribute a monologue or scene.

Our success depends upon YOU!  We will be recording this and we encourage both those new to Playreaders and current members to join the party.  We will also have time for applause and chatting. You will, of course, provide your own drinks and cookies.

Monologues must be short (up to 3 minutes) and public-domain (this means they must be from plays that were published in 1924 or earlier). If two or more of you want to present a scene (up to 3 minutes), you must live in the same household or be in a pod and be able to communicate from only one Zoom window.

If you wish to perform a monologue or scene please email your name(s), preferred email, first choice of monologue (and perhaps second choice?), and an electronic copy of your selection to [email protected] ASAP but no later than Wednesday, October 7 at 12:00 noon.

Having trouble finding a monologue? Have a browse around https://www.backstage.com/monologues/plays/ or http://www.monologuearchive.com/ for ideas.
