Re: 2018 Nobel Prize in Chemistry

We are delighted and honored to congratulate Professor Frances Arnold on her receipt of this year's Nobel Prize in Chemistry. For nearly three decades, Frances has explored the powerful idea that the principles of evolution can be adapted for human purposes, and in doing so has transformed the fields of protein chemistry and biotechnology. Her methods have been adopted by countless scientists and engineers around the world, and many more have been inspired by her vision and her impact on chemical science and technology. She has changed the way we think about things and the way we do things, in the best Caltech tradition. Please join me in congratulating Frances on this extraordinary honor.
