Webinar: FARSIDE: A Probe-Class Mission to Place a Radio Telescope on the Lunar Farside

Join Caltech's Gregg Hallinan, Professor of Astronomy and Director of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory, as he discusses the FARSIDE (Farside Array for Radio Science Investigations of the Dark ages and Exoplanets) mission concept. FARSIDE will consist of 128 antennas deployed across a 10 km area on the farside of the Moon by a rover, and tethered to a base station for central processing, power and data transmission to the Lunar Gateway.

  • Gregg Hallinan is Professor of Astronomy at Caltech, and Director of the Owens Valley Radio Observatory (OVRO). His primary interests are the magnetic fields of exoplanets, brown dwarfs and stars and all sources of transient radio emission.

This lecture is organized by the W. M. Keck Institute for Space Studies (KISS) , a joint think tank of the Caltech Campus and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).
