The CTLO is excited to offer a new ‘short course' for Caltech postdocs this spring!

This 5-session series, entitled "Transforming Your Research into Teaching," will focus on participants learning the skills of course design and developing a college-level course based on the area of your research expertise. In this course, you will work with peers across the Institute who are developing courses in similar areas for peer review and inspiration.

This short course will culminate in a completed syllabus for a course based on your research, as well as a 1-slide ‘chalk talk' overview of your created course. Participants will be able to utilize these products when applying/interviewing for faculty positions, while also gaining practice in clearly communicating the highlights of their research.

The short-course consists of five 90-minute class sessions, occurring every other Tuesday during Spring quarter. The course requires around 1.5-2 hours of work per week. Class sessions will take place 12pm-1:30pm in the CTLO Workshop space, lunch provided.

Participants are expected to attend all five course sessions in the series.
