Seth Lloyd's seminal work in the fields of quantum computation and quantum communications includes proposing the first technologically feasible design for a quantum computer, and demonstrating the viability of quantum analog computation.

His latest book, Programming the Universe : A Quantum Computer Scientist Takes On the Cosmos, will be released on March 14th of this year.

Seth Lloyd is Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Professor of Engineering Systems at MIT. He is a member of the American Physical Society and the Amercian Society of Mechanical Engineers and, since 1988, has been an adjunct faculty member at the Sante Fe Institute.

He was recently featured on NPR's weekly radio program Talk of the Nation - Science Friday. Both the New York Times and the Los Angeles Times reviewed Programming the Universe on April 2nd of this year.

A book signing will immediately follow the talk.
