We welcome back Patrick Ball, who has honored our series by appearing 7 times before, with completely different shows and different musical configurations, combining elements of music, storytelling, theater and literature. Patrick is an extraordinary steel string Celtic harpist and an equally talented storyteller. In an article entitled, An Irish Bard Plucks at Heartstrings the San Franciso Chronicle wrote,
"… whenever performer Patrick Ball pulls his stool up to the harp, streams of silvery tunes glisten and shimmer. It's instant Irish nostalgia, even for a listener who has no particular connection to the country and its culture…Ball plays the pedalless Celtic harp with a deft, florid touch. The melodies are lovingly shaped and the intricate finger work gracefully phrased."

Whether he is acting out a scene, telling a story, performing solo or with others, Patrick has always turned in a stellar performance here at Caltech. His words connect with the audience, and the moods he creates with the harp are breath-taking. He is a master interpreter of the legendary Irish harper, Turlough O'Carolan in particular. Don't miss this chance to be swept away by this master storyteller as he transports you to other lands and he treats you to an evening of achingly beautiful harp music.
