Extensions and the Twice-punctured Sphere
Christopher Skinner, Department of Mathematics, Princeton University,

The literature illuminating the connections between values of Dirichlet series (such as the Riemann zeta-function), periods of differential forms, and extensions in cohomology is as vast as the results are fascinating. I will give a simple retelling of one small piece of this story, emphasizing a point of view that has led recently to new advances in number theory. The key to the story to be told: d(log|t|) = dt/t.
