The Caltech Project for Effective Teaching (CPET) invites you to join us for seminar and workshop offered by Professor Darryl Yong on "Making Group Work Purposeful and Inclusive" on Thursday, November 2, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Noyes 147! Darryl will focus on group work (sometimes referred to as collaborative learning or cooperative learning) which involves coordinating groups of students to work on a common task. Group work can be a great strategy to boost student motivation and engagement in critical thinking, problem-solving, and perspective taking. In this workshop, we'll discuss how to structure group work in purposeful ways to maximize learning outcomes for students and also enhance the inclusivity of our classrooms.

What is CPET? CPET is a group of grad students and postdocs dedicated to improving our own teaching and helping others to do the same. Advised by the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Outreach (CTLO), we host seminars, workshops, and discussions on topics related to higher education. We also offer two Teaching Certificate programs to help participants become knowledgeable and effective future faculty. Want to learn more? Check out our website or email us at [email protected].
