Learning Lunch: Design Thinking for Entrepreneurial Scientists and Engineers @ Caltech

Want to be more creative in your research? Come to this 1 hour Learning Lunch information session to hear more about a Design Thinking Workshop to be held on campus (April 2018, exact Workshop dates TBD). Following the information session, applications to the Workshop will open to current Caltech graduate students. Lunch will be provided during this information session.

Description of the Workshop:

The Hasso Platner Institute for Design at Stanford https://dschool.stanford.edu/ (the "d.school") is world famous for its approach to human centered design and expanding people's creative capacity. In the past five years, we have embraced our passion for research, design, and entrepreneurship to develop a program for PhD students to apply interdisciplinary techniques to their research to empower them to take their work beyond the lab. This immersive 2-day program at Caltech is for PhD students who want to expand their thinking and embrace a new adventure with their research. You will uniquely have the opportunity to change your perspective from research to embracing the needs of users and customers. This class is for a small group of participants who will share and collaborate with each other in a series of individual and team exploration, exercises, and presentations. Come and begin the journey to expand the impact of your work to a broader and more diverse community beyond your research group!
