Finding Harmony Through Story: Musings on Jazz, Training, and Science Communication

Effective STEM communication is an art as well as a science, and inspiration can come from places you'd least suspect. Each person brings their own unique voice and experiences to the work they do -- so what is your story? This talk will explore ways that you can draw upon facets of your life both in and outside JPL to communicate in a more authentic, engaging way.

Watch the WebEx here.

About the Speaker:

Dr. Robyn Javier is a STEM Communication Specialist & Lecturer in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science at Caltech. With a background in scientific research (Neuroscience PhD, Biomedical Engineering MS) and more than 15 years of technical communication experience, Robyn helps other STEM experts tell more effective stories about their work. When she's not teaching, she enjoys playing music, drawing, and training for long-distance races in pretty places

About the Series:

This event is part of a series of informal gatherings to foster development of a storytelling community of practice that spans across JPL and Caltech. If you're engaged in (or just interested in) hearing how others meet challenges in creative communication, we encourage you to join. The initiative is sponsored by the JPL Formulation Science Communications Office, a joint effort of 18x (Communications & Education) and 15x (The Foundry).
