The Civil War: The South Carolina Black Regiment is a new musical inspired by events surrounding the formation of the first Black regiment of the Civil War. Historical figures and events intertwine with new songs and traditional spirituals to tell this original story of a brave young African-American boy and his quest for freedom. Follow the stories of Kofi, Colonel Higginson, and Charlotte Forten as they fight for liberty, recognition, and education, so that they, and all future generations of Americans, can be forever free.

This play will be performed twice, at 10:00 a.m. and at noon. Please visit the Theatreworks site for reservation information and additional show resource, including additional materials for educators.

TheatreworksUSA is America's largest and most prolific professional not-for-profit theatre for young and family audiences. Established in 1961, they have enlightened, entertained, and instructed over 78 million people.
