Tools from space exploration sometimes find their way into everyday life on Earth. For instance, cameras in smartphones incorporate a sensor based on technology created at JPL. In a similar vein, Professor José Andrade, the George W. Housner Professor of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and the Cecil and Sally Drinkward Leadership Chair, is part of an effort to adapt out-of-this-world concepts to address terrestrial problems, including one critical issue facing this country: affordable and sustainable housing. To tackle this challenge, how can a potential human mission to Mars inform housing for those who lack homes on Earth? In this enlightening presentation, Professor Andrade will explore this question among others.

This event is open to Associates members and friends of Caltech.
