eBay brought commerce to the web, brought commerce to mobile, and pioneered machine translation for cross-border trade.  Join Dan Fain, VP of Data Platform Engineering, as he shares how the Fortune 500 company builds custom platforms and applications to bring commerce to artificial intelligence in augmented reality.  Beyond owning and operating hyper-scale computing centers, eBay is investing accordingly in hardware engineering.  This includes designing distributed data systems including custom software and hardware.  The hardware effort, new for eBay, has started at the server level and is extending now to rack level and chip level.
