Fast erasure decoder for a class of quantum LDPC codes
Nicolas Delfosse, Microsoft Quantum,

Note: special time Tuesday at 2 pm and location: B157 W. Bridge in the basement of W. Bridge

Abstract: The surface code is the most popular quantum error correction code for the design of large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computers. However, it leads to a huge overhead because each logical qubit is encoded into hundreds of physical qubits. Quantum LDPC codes could lead to a significant reduction of the qubit count. In this talk, I will discuss the decoding problem for these codes. I will describe a fast decoder for the correction of erasures with hypergraph product codes, which form one of the most popular families of quantum LDPC codes.
