The International Offices will host a one-day conference for international students and scholars to learn more about how U.S. immigration and employment work together. Come hear experienced Immigration Attorneys and Employment Specialists speak about these important topics. Bring your resume to our Resource Fair to get helpful tips. The Resource Fair will have subject matter experts to help answer your specific immigration questions, provide you with interview tips, better understand U.S. benefits, and other professional development resources. This session will provide information about nonimmigrant options for industry and academia.

Scientific Storytelling & Navigating Your International Career | 10:00 AM – 10:45 AM | Trity Pourbahrami, Director of Communications in the Division of Engineering and Applied Science.

In this interactive presentation you will learn how you can use scientific storytelling to advance your international science and engineering career. The session will cover best practices in communication across different cultures.

Emotional Intelligence Matters | 11:00 AM – 11:-45 AM | Stacy Kesten, Ensight Partners

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to identify, use, understand, and manage emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges, and defuse conflict. EQ and high performance in the work place are strongly correlated, as 90% of top performers demonstrate a high EQ. By learning to improve the four cores of emotional intelligence, which are self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management a person can raise his or her EQ to a higher level. This session will cover the crucial role of self-awareness in developing successful relationships and running a successful organization. Stacy Kesten will guide the participants as they gain a greater awareness of their own beliefs, emotions and behaviors through presentation, group discussion and exercises. Informative as well as experiential, this workshop will give participants the tools they need to develop greater competency in EQ. Learn skills that will strengthen your ability to use Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace.

This session will provide strategies, general criteria, timelines, and costs of self-sponsored green card petitions.
