Lorentzian Dynamics and Factorization beyond Rationality
Ying-Hsuan Lin, Harvard University,

I motivate this discussion with four questions in (1+1)d CFT: (Q1) Given complete knowledge of local operators, how to find line operators? (Q2) What is the interpretation of correlators outside the Euclidean or Lorentzian regime? (Q3) Can the Verlinde algebra be made sense of in irrational CFT? (Q4) Is there a connection between Lorentzian dynamics and line operators? I will argue that the answer to (Q3) is "yes", and via (Q4) this "algebra" can provide an alternative argument for unitarity bounds in the conformal Regge limit of four-point functions. Topological defect lines play a key role in this story.
