High Energy Theory Seminar
Tidal deformabilities serve as an effective tool to study the structures of compact objects. In the first part of the talk, I will present how the worldline effective field theory (EFT) can be applied to examine the tidal responses of compact objects. This approach offers a robust framework for parameterizing tidal effects, enabling precise data analysis and Fisher forecast for the gravitational wave (GW) observations. In the second half of the talk, I will discuss how we can use the gravitational Raman scattering amplitudes to understand the tidal effects. Specifically, for black holes (BHs), this amplitude in the partial wave basis can be exactly solved using black hole perturbation theory. I will discuss the mathematical structure of this amplitude, present a novel exact result on tidal anomalous dimension and its potential applications in the waveform resummation.
The talk is in 469 Lauritsen.
