Algebras and entropies for quantum field theory, black holes, and inflationary cosmology
Jonah Kudler-Flam, Institute for Advanced Study, PCTS,

I will discuss the algebras of dressed observables in perturbative quantum gravity. For spacetimes with horizons, the algebras are generically Type II von Neumann algebras, which, unlike quantum field theory algebras, admit traces and finite von Neumann entropies (equal to the generalized entropy). I will pay special attention to spacetimes of cosmological interest, such as black holes in de Sitter and FLRW spacetimes spawned from an inflationary era. Time permitting, I will discuss how similar techniques can be applied in non-gravitational QFT to rigorously prove the Bekenstein Bound and the Quantum Null Energy Condition.

The talk is in 469 Lauritsen.
