On the quantum information content of a Hawking pair
Herman Verlinde,
Princeton University,
In the first part of this talk, I explain how the OPE of a holographic CFT gives rise to a simple construction of bulk operators that create particles inside and outside a black hole horizon. Then, using this and other recent insights, I show how to compute the entropy of a Hawking pair as a function of the distance from the black hole horizon. It is found that the information transfer from the black hole to the Hawking particle is triggered by a geometric transition that, somewhat surprisingly, takes place far outside the horizon.
The talk is in 469 Lauritsen.
