Soft Supersymmetry Breaking in 4d N=2 Gauge Theories
Thomas Dumitrescu, UCLA,

I will report on upcoming work exploring the dynamics of pure 4d N=2 supersymmetric gauge theories with SU(n) gauge group, deformed by a mass for the scalars in the N=2 vector multiplet. As long as the mass is small, its effect can be precisely described using supersymmetric techniques. Motivated by this I will propose a dual description of the problem that conjecturally captures the phases of the system for all values of the mass. I will analyze this dual model and show that its asymptotic large-mass phase coincides with the expected confining and chiral-symmetry-breaking behavior of SU(n) gauge theory with two adjoint quarks.
