Harold Goldwhite sketches the development of scientific detection in mystery fiction through consideration of the plots and characters of novels, short stories, and television scripts, from Sherlock Holmes through CSI.
Harold Goldwhite, a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Cal State L.A. from 1962 to 2004, was born in England and received both his B.A. and Ph.D. from Cambridge University. He served as faculty trustee from 1998 to 2003, and as a member of the University's Board of Trustees. Recognized for his excellent teaching and expertise in his field, Goldwhite was honored as a CSULA Outstanding Professor in 1967 and as a CSU Trustees' Outstanding Professor in 1978.
