Exoplanetary Atmospheres: Some Modeling Advances in Advance of JWST
Jonathan Fortney, Professor, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, University of California, Santa Cruz,

Abstract: I will discuss a few aspects of transiting giant planet atmosphere modeling that will aid our interpretation of the spectra of these planets in the era of high precision spectroscopy enabled by JWST.  These includes complications that arise in models in 1D (flux from the deep interior), 2D (inhomogeneous temperature structures), and 3D (the effects of clouds on hot Jupiter phase curves).
