Author and cystic fibrosis advocate Diane Shader Smith will discuss a book that she assembled from the diaries of her daughter, Mallory Smith, who tragically died at the age of 25, on the cusp of receiving a potentially curative cystic fibrosis (CF) treatment. The book is entitled "Salt in My Soul."

Mallory was an extraordinary young woman who chronicled her battle with CF for a decade with remarkable eloquence, honesty and, despite everything, enduring thoughtfulness and positivity.

Diane Shader Smith was not only a remarkable mother, but she is a force in general. In the wake of her daughter's death, she is making a poignant effort to publicize the book and Mallory's story, to help carry forward her positive spirit and draw attention to CF and potentially novel cures.

For anyone in the CF community, as well as for those without, this lecture will likely be very interesting and inspiring.

Coffee and cookies will be provided outside the lecture hall before the start of the talk.
