Caltech Center for Science, Society, and Public Policy (CSSPP) Panel Event
Academic Publishing for Caltech Graduate and Postdoctoral Students
So, you are done with your experiments and are thinking about how to write them up and get them published in a peer-reviewed journal. How do you select the right journal for your work? How do you frame the argument? How much effort should you put into making the abstract and introduction accessible to readers not immediately in your field? How can you use generative AI to help you with the process? Who at Caltech can help you with your writing? How do you respond to reviewers? Should you get upset if your paper is rejected? Should you use social media to disseminate your work? This roundtable conversation will give you the chance to ask questions like these.
Panelists:
- R. Michael Alvarez, Professor of Political and Computational Social Science and Co-Director of the Center for Science, Society, and Public Policy
- Stanna Dorn, Postdoctoral Scholar Fellowship Trainee in Chemistry (Moderator)
