We invite all interested graduate students and postdocs to join us on Tuesday, January 10th at 4-5pm in the CTLO Workshop Space for an in-person discussion group on the topic of using failure and vulnerability to facilitate student growth. This discussion group will be the second in our Caltech Project for Effective Teaching (CPET) "book club" series where we discuss several selected chapters from the book Exploring How We Teach.

In this discussion group, we will examine Chapter 11 of Exploring How We Teach and delve into some of the research surrounding the role of failure in learning. We will also discuss some practical strategies on how to create vulnerable learning environments which encourage student growth through risk, creativity, and failure. We invite you to share your own experiences and strategies for shifting the narrative of failure from an undesirable experience to a powerful learning opportunity!

We kindly ask everyone to read the (short) chapter ahead of time so that we are all on the same page (pun intended) for the discussion!

This event is eligible for the CPET Certificate of Interest
