CPA Surf Trip

The Caltech Postdoc Association, in collaboration with the Caltech Surf & Windsurf Club, would like to announce the first CPA Surf Trip! This trip will be held on Saturday, October 8th, and is open to all postdocs at Caltech and JPL and their families. We encourage those of all skill levels to join us, whether you have surfed before or would like to learn!

We will be going to Mondo's, a surfing beach just north of Ventura (about 1.5 hours drive). This beach is in a cove and is known as a beginners' beach, so the locals are friendly and the waves and currents are forgiving. However, we should note that this is not a state beach, so there are no amenities (bathrooms, changing rooms, water fountains, etc.). Plan to bring your own food and water with you. Feel free to also bring frisbees, soccer balls or anything else to do on the sand when you take a break from surfing. Plan on leaving in the morning (around 8AM) and returning to Caltech around 5PM, though these times might change by an hour or two depending on the tides. The cost for this event is $10 per person, plus the cost of gas for your carpool driver. All equipment (surfboards, wetsuits, etc.) will be provided, as well as a surfing lesson on the beach for beginners. To make sure we have enough equipment to go around, we must limit this event to 25 people.
