Coffee & Career: Steven Bowers

Join us for an informal coffee hour chat with our guest, Steven Bowers, a mechanical engineer and patent attorney who will talk about careers in technology transfer and IP licensing. He will also share his experience, perspectives, and advice on alternative careers, which combine a technical engineering background with legal practice.

Steven has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell and a MS in Aeronautics from Caltech. After working for a few years as an engineer and analyst for the Intelligence Community,he attended the George Washington University Law School and obtained his JD which allowed him to practice patent litigation in Washington, DC.

Steven has been employed by Intel Corporation for the past four years, during most of which he has counseled and supported Intel's wireless technology business unit. His job entails providing strategic legal advice in support of Intel's product security and 5G wireless corporate strategy (including research, development and scaling of next generation wireless technology-related products). Additionally, he advises technology transactions including on the topics of IP licensing (hardware and software), strategic patent portfolio initiatives, technology collaboration and research agreements (with businesses and universities), product security, competition and regulatory compliance, public relations and crisis management.
