Coffee and Career: Daniel Hutchins

Join us for our Coffee & Career series with our guest, Daniel Hutchins, on Tuesday March 5th, 3:30-4:30pm, at Little Chandler, next to Chandler Café. All postdocs and graduates are welcome.

Dan is a patent attorney from the law firm of Christensen O'Connor Johnson Kindness, with experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications in the electrical, mechanical, chemical, optical, computer software, and life sciences fields. Dan regularly drafts applications relating to semiconductor process, applied optics, fiber optics, applied physics, materials science, medical devices, and green technologies.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Dan worked as design and process engineer for a Seattle-based biomedical device company. Dan's academic research included the design/characterization of new semiconducting materials, fabrication of organic microelectronic devices, and investigation of interfacial modification on semiconductor device performance.

Dan received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in materials science and engineering from the University of Washington, and earned his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law. While attending law school, he served as a Judicial Extern to the Honorable Beth Freeman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California and was a member of the Santa Clara Law Review.
