CMA Presents "Genius to You, Father to Me"

Wednesday, June 22, 2005
4:45pm to 6:00pm
Add to Cal
JPL, von Karman Auditorium
Michelle Feynman, daughter of Richard P. Feynman,

Nobel Laureate, lock-picker, practical joker, physicist, professor, husband, father, brother, best-selling author, bongo player — these are just some of the many faces of Richard P. Feynman.

While there have been many books celebrating his myriad scientific achievements and personal eccentricities, his personal correspondence has remained largely hidden from view, buried in the archive at Caltech or locked in a box in his daughter's Pasadena home. Now Feynman's daughter, Michelle, unlocks that box, and shares for the first time her father's life in letters in "PERFECTLY REASONABLE DEVIATIONS FROM THE BEATEN TRACK: The Letters of Richard P. Feynman."

Come join Michelle and CMA for a delightful trip down a memory lane of extraordinary richness. Her work is the closest we'll ever come to a Feynman autobiography, and includes marvelous missives to students, long-lost relatives, former lovers, crackpots, colleagues, and die-hard fans.

The JPL/Caltech Bookstore will have copies of the book available for purchase several days before, as well as at the event. Michelle will be available for booksigning after her talk.

This event is free. All JPL and Campus personnel and retirees are welcome.
