Monday, October 2, 2000
10:00am to 11:00am
Add to Cal
JPL, von Karman Auditorium
John H. Biggs, Chairman, President, and CEO, TIAA-CREF,

Do you want to know what's been going on with your investments? In the last two years, TIAA-CREF has evolved from being a tightly restricted pension company serving primarily higher education, to a broader financial services company serving the general public. John Biggs will discuss how TIAA-CREF arrived at its new set of activities and what the company decided to forego in the process. He will also comment on the problems of a not-for-profit institution "competing" with very aggressive for-profit companies.

John H. Biggs has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TIAA-CREF since January 1993 and President of the organization since 1997. He also serves on the boards of numerous other high-level financial and charitable foundations, and has published papers on variable annuities, social security, regulation and taxation of pension plans, and demographic effects on pensions. Mr. Biggs earned an A.B. degree in classics from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in economics from Washington University, St. Louis.

Come find out what long-term effects TIAA-CREF management decisions could have on your individual financial returns.

This event is free. All JPL/Caltech personnel are welcome.
