CMA Members Only

Location: Space Exploration Technologies (Space X) facilities, 1310 East Grand Avenue, El Segundo, CA

Space X is about to make history with the low-cost Falcon 1 launch on February 10, 2006, from the Kwajalein Atoll of the Marshall Islands. Join 30 other CMA members drawn via lottery on an exclusive tour of the Space X facilities in El Segundo. Meet and talk with the engineers who are making history as Space X turns the low-Earth-orbit market on its ear. Our tour guides will be Gwynne Shotwell, Vice President of Business Development, and Dianne Molina, Marketing Manager. Tour duties may even be shared by Elon Musk, President and Founder of Space X. Space X recently expanded their El Segundo facility to begin development of the much larger Falcon 9, slated to launch in the second quarter of 2007. You won't want to miss this great field trip.

Since we anticipate that more people will want to attend than the limited space available (30 people maximum), we will conduct a lottery drawing of all of the CMA members expressing interest in the tour. To participate in the lottery, you must be a current CMA member and submit your name by THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 16. To enter your name in the lottery, send an e-mail to [email protected]. If you are not a member, go to http://cma.jpl.nasa.gov/membership.html for the membership form and payment procedure. Membership forms will also be available before and after the CMA- sponsored talk by Richard Murray in von Karman, scheduled for 4:45 p.m. on February 16.

Lottery participants will be notified of the winners via e-mail, and winners' names will be posted to the CMA web site, at http://cma.jpl.nasa.gov/upcoming.html, on Friday, February 17. You need not be present to win (but to participate in the lottery, you must be a current CMA member by February 16).

Should the Falcon 1 launch be postponed, the tour date will be revised to March 10 (the tour time will be the same as before).

This event is free.
