Join the Caltech Chess Club for a special event featuring recent US Chess Champion Sam Shankland, as he gives a 90-minute lecture and simultaneous exhibition. The short lecture will be targeted at a general audience (suitable for all skill levels, as long as you know the rules). This will be followed by a "simul" exhibition, where he will take on 25 members of the Caltech Chess Club simultaneously.

Bio:

Sam Shankland is an American Chess Grandmaster and the 2018 US Chess Champion. He is a mainstay on the US Olympic Team, a two-time Olympiad Gold Medallist (2014 and 2016), a former World U18 co-champion (2008), and the winner of several international events. He has worked as an analyst for the reigning World Champion, Magnus Carlsen, training with him to prepare for the 2014 and 2016 World Championship matches. He is currently ranked #6 in the United States and has a FIDE Elo rating of 2691.
