Many of us watch the unfolding violence in the Mideast with deeply affecting shock, horror, and despair. The immense loss of innocent lives in Israel and in Gaza is a tragedy that engenders palpable grief.

We at the CCID wish to convey our shared grief and our support for those who have been affected, especially those in our community who have lost family, friends, and colleagues. Many of us are also experiencing raw fear, anger, and a profound sense of powerlessness. It is our hope that all in the Caltech community will meet one another with empathy and compassion, treating each other with care during this challenging time.

To work and study right now, while navigating an overwhelming inner landscape amid seemingly intractable violence and threat, can be overwhelming. To support our Caltech community, the CCID will host a space of care and connection with multiple means of attending to your whole self and gathering with others during this time.

The drop-in space, which is open to Caltech students, postdocs, faculty, and staff will be held on Friday, October 20 from 9AM-3PM on the second floor of the CSS building. In this space, community members will be able to journal, create art, craft, engage in reflection, watch movies, spend some time with dogs, and connect, or simply gather, with others navigating life, study, and work during this time.
