Innovations in chemistry are foundational to the discovery, development and commercialization of our products at Merck. Although we have witnessed breathtaking advances in chemistry over the past century, we are not satisfied with the current state of the field, and are committed to delivering the medicine of tomorrow through science which broadly inspires our field. This lecture will review Merck's legacy of delivering products through innovations in chemistry, and provides a backdrop for subsequent lectures wherein we will share selections from our current and future research directions.
