Have you been worried about a colleague or student who appears unwell or in distress, but aren't sure how to intervene? Do you feel uncomfortable engaging a colleague/student in a conversation about their wellbeing, or don't know how to refer to appropriate resources?

Caltech Connect training is a 2-hour interactive program offered by Student Counseling Services. This training enables faculty to identify signs of distress, offers concrete strategies for intervention, and provides information about resources and referral options. While Caltech Connect has a particular focus on suicide prevention, the skills you will learn are applicable to a range of situations that you may encounter with your graduate and undergraduate students.

Faculty are an integral part of the Caltech safety net; we recognize that sensitive conversations with students/colleagues can be difficult, and aim to help you feel better equipped to manage these situations. Counseling Services will offer Caltech Connect training to the community on a regular basis, and is open to hosting option or division-specific programs by request. Please consider joining us for this term's online session on Thursday, October 20th, from 11:00 - 1:00. RSVP below and you will receive a Zoom link closer to the training date.

For more information, please contact Lee H. Coleman, Ph.D., ABPP by email at [email protected] or visit RSVP for this training - Caltech faculty only.
