Jorgensen is the home of the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (JCAP) and the Resnick Sustainability Institute. Its 2012 renovation resulted in a cutting-edge facility that earned LEED Platinum certification.
The facility was originally built with a gift from Mr. and Mrs. Earle M. Jorgensen, with additional funds provided by the Booth-Ferris Foundation and other private donors. Earle Jorgensen was a member of the Board of Trustees from 1957 to 1999. A full remodeling of the building was completed in June 2012 with funding provided by the Joint Center for Artificial Photosynthesis/Department of Energy; Lynda and Stewart Resnick through the Resnick Sustainability Institute; Gordon and Betty Moore and the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation; the Ahmanson Foundation; and the Office of the Provost.
