The Caltech Center for Diveristy Welcomes Dr. Lauren Esposito, one of the world's only female scorpion biologists, is Curator of Arachnology at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. In 2014, she co-founder the Islands & Seas, a non-profit that supports scientific research and education at its field station in Baja California Sur, Mexico. Additionally, she is the creator of 500 Queer Scientists, a network of LGBTQ+ scientists worldwide.

"I'm queer, I'm an arachnologist, and I'm sharing my #500QueerScientists story because I've felt uncomfortable too many times in my career. I have a place in science & I want the world to know we're here, we're queer, & our contributions and discoveries propel STEM forward!"

CCD STEMinar Series:
The Caltech Center for Diversity is excited to invite STEM faculty, scholars, and experts to explore the intersections of their various identities with their science. We hope that with each monthly lecture in this series, you will be able to explore your own path through the world of STEM and reflect on how your science interacts with who you are as a broader person.

Date changed, previously planned on March 7th
