Title:

The Neurophysiology of Memory, Metacognition, and a Mission to Mars

Abstract:

A mission to Mars will represent a unique condition of human isolation, confinement, and performance, during which errors of cognition in domains such as memory, attention, and perception can have catastrophic effects. The talk will present a range of data which first identifies current research findings on the cognitive neuroscience of human memory, extends that towards novel innovations using neurophysiology to study metacognitive illusions, and then will present recent efforts working with NASA to apply these approaches to studying cognition of crews in analog studies of long duration space travel.

Hosted by Prof. Shin Shimojo

Lunch will be provided on the first come, first served basis.
