ARPA-E: A Fresh Perspective on Next-Generation EV Battery Technology

The Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) was created to be the "DARPA for Energy", with a focus on game-changing R&D that can reduce U.S. energy use and emissions. ARPA-E is funding a wide range of breakthrough battery technologies to accelerate adoption of electrified vehicles. This presentation will highlight a few of the fresh approaches that go beyond simply finding the next "holy grail" battery chemistry, including innovations in system architecture, advanced controls, power topologies, and thermal management.
