High Energy Physics Seminar
Unanswered questions in neutrino physics may hold the key to better understand our universe's evolution. The neutrino oscillation community is engaged in an ambitious program to address these open questions through two accelerator-based projects: the Short Baseline Neutrino (SBN) program and the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE). These experiments, hosted at Fermilab, make use of intense neutrino beams and the liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) detector technology to image neutrino interactions with unprecedented detail. MicroBooNE, as the first large-scale LArTPC neutrino experiment to operate in the US, has pioneered the development of analysis tools for this technology. Having collected the largest dataset of neutrino interactions on argon to date, MicroBooNE is carrying out a broad range of physics measurements. This talk will present the status of MicroBooNE's signature "low-energy-excess" analysis and outline the road ahead for the US accelerator-based neutrino physics program.
