The drone and AI industries have gained massive popularity and transformed in the past decade. This talk provides an overview of the drone industry and explores how a local startup, Aeromana, has adapted and grown within this rapidly changing landscape. Aeromana develops AI-enabled site monitoring services for applications in construction, public safety and security. Their technologies allow commercial drones to fly for hours continuously, instead of minutes, and collect massive amount of aerial videos.

Processing large amounts of aerial, high-resolution video data poses both unique challenges and opportunities for AI. This talk explores the performance of current state-of-the-art computer vision techniques on aerial imagery, and explores how new approaches can improve performance in this domain.
