VIP Tours of James Webb Space Telescope for CMA Members

March 04, 2020

Friday, April 10 and April 24, 2020

1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

Northrop Grumman, 1 Space Park Blvd. Redondo Beach, CA 90278

The Caltech Management Association (CMA) has arranged for its members special tours of Northrop Grumman's museum, along with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), which is housed in a high bay in their Redondo Beach facility. Because of space limitations, tour participants will be selected by lottery. U.S. citizens, green card holders, and foreign persons can apply for this event. Please consider joining CMA and entering the lottery for a chance to go on one of the two tour dates!

Take this opportunity to learn about Northrop's long history and to view the JWST as it awaits its 2021 launch. You will see how large the telescope is in person and hear about the science goals, engineering, and operations of this world-class telescope, which is designed to observe the "Dark Ages" when the first stars lit up and the first galaxies came together.

Northrop Grumman has free publicly available tours, but if you'd like to go with CMA, you must be a CMA member. Tour participants will be selected by a lottery because of the number of members and the limited number of available spaces. Lottery winners can each invite one guest.

If you are not a current CMA member, apply for FY20 membership before entering the lottery. To become a member, go to https://cma.sites.caltech.edu/become-member.

If you are a current CMA member, register for the lottery by Wednesday, March 18, at https://forms.gle/YSE2hMffjqq7i8Q37.

Be sure to indicate whether you wish to bring a guest, and your preferred tour date. There is no guarantee you will be assigned your preferred date. Members who have been in the CMA longer than one year will have multiple chances to win, based on the number of current years of continuous CMA membership (up to five chances). So, for example, new members will have one chance to win, while those with five years, or more, of continuous CMA membership will be entered five times in the lottery.

Lottery participants will be notified of the winners via e-mail, and winners' names will be posted to the CMA website, at https://cma.caltech.edu/lottery, at the end of the day on Wednesday, March 25.
