Increase in Bike Thefts Targeting Campus

December 02, 2019

Bicycle thefts have surged on campus and at off-campus student housing in recent weeks, with perpetrators posing as scrap metal scavengers and going so far as to remove entire bike racks. Caltech Campus Security is advising members of the Caltech community to take extra precautions when securing their bikes: use a U-lock outside or keep your bike inside your residence if possible. In addition, do not leave packages and other deliveries unattended.

This affects our entire community and demands everyone's vigilance.

If you see anything that raises concern, please call Campus Security immediately at ext. 5000 from any on-campus phone, or 626-395-5000 if you are off campus.
