Harvey Mudd College and Caltech invite you to "When the Stakes are High, You Must Network Differently" with Dr. Sherine Obare on Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 6 p.m. PDT.

Women are always encouraged to network, but often are not given the full instructions on what the outcome of the network could or should be. Dr. Sherine Obare shares with us some highlights from her chapter in the book, "Overcoming Barriers for Women of Color in STEM Fields" about how seldom are women of color mentored to network in ways that they are viewed as contributors who bring impact and value to the discipline. This program is geared towards women of color and allies who want to strengthen science and scientists. The purpose of this talk is to provide some guidelines from lessons learned about networking not only through the speaker's experience as a faculty member moving through the ranks, but as a university administrator, and a leader in a national organization.
