Erik Conway, as historian of science and technology, studies and documents the history of space exploration, and examines the intersections of national politics, space science, Earth science, and technological change. His research has covered robotic Mars exploration, analyzing the effects of changing policies on project management and planetary science. His books include High-Speed Dreams, Blind Landings, Atmospheric Science at NASA, and Merchants of Doubt. In 2009 he received the NASA History award for "pathbreaking contributions to space history ranging from aeronautics to Earth and space sciences," and the AIAA History Manuscript Award for his book, "Atmospheric Science at NASA: A History."
