"The hopeless, yet compelling art of prediction." Uniquely human organs compel us to ponder times that have not yet occurred. From daydreams to prophesies and auguries, to sophisticated weather models and science fiction thought experiments, the same obsession propels our fervid attempts at ‘planning' for the future. Author and astronomer David Brin (Caltech class of ‘72) will explore this human trait and recent progress toward an elusive dream.
