Aaron Ames, Bren Professor of Mechanical and Civil Engineering and Control and Dynamical Systems, is moving us closer to the worlds of science fiction by teaching robots to walk. We're past the era of clunky, rigid robots, and have our eyes set on humanoid machines walking and running as smoothly as the human body. Hear how Professor Ames is turning fantasy into reality by designing bipedal robots and crafting mathematical algorithms that teach them to generate their own walking gait.
